What exactly defines coaching?

Pastoral care, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, counseling, coaching?
Where the differences lie and when coaching is a great offer for you

The difference between pastoral care and coaching

Pastoral care asks:

•How is your soul?

•What do you need inside to be whole?

It is often very spiritual, focused on comfort, and provides support in faith – even without specific goals or desires for change.

Coaching, on the other hand, asks:

•Where do you want to go?

•What do you need to get moving and make a change?

It is solution-oriented, practical and works with what is there – with heart, but also with structure.

Conclusion: Pastoral care listens and holds. Coaching listens and moves.

Psychotherapy....

helps with mental illnesses, deeper traumas and psychological crises. It is regulated by medicine, requires a diagnosis and starts with healing injuries.

Coaching...

requires that you are mentally stable – even if you may feel stuck. It helps you to find clarity, make decisions or develop new perspectives.

Conclusion: Therapy is for mental wounds. Coaching for healthy steps forward.

Counselling...

often provides direct tips, solutions or expertise:

“I'll tell you what you can do.”

Coaching believes...

“You already have the best answers inside you.”

and helps you discover them – through good questions, attentive listening and creative thinking.

Conclusion: Counselling gives you answers. Coaching helps you find your own.

So when is coaching the right choice for you?

Coaching can help if, for example, you think and say:

* “I'm stuck, but I want to change something.”

* “I'm torn inside – how do I find clarity again?”

* “I feel there's more to me – but how do I get it out?”

* “I want to make decisions that suit me.”

• “I want an outside perspective – honest, benevolent and free of religious pressure.”

Conclusion:

If you don't need therapy but are looking for profound support – without pressure, with heart and mind – then coaching may be just right for you. In the Christian realm, coaching is the right choice if you want to take action, desire change and/or are a follower/following an inner calling. And if you now think that this is exactly what you need and it allows you to breathe out: Then feel free to take a look at my offers.

We are sure to find something that will help you move forward!
